A highly regarded national mid-tier law firm is expanding its Banking & Finance team in Sydney. The firm has recently welcomed two new Partners and a Special Counsel, bringing extensive top-tier experience to the practice. The Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Lawyer or Associate to join the Banking & Finance team, specifically within the transactional lending space. Working closely with experienced Partners and senior lawyers, the successful candidate will be involved in a range of high-quality matters, including:
- Acting for major banks and non-bank lenders on commercial banking and finance transactions across various sectors, including property, corporate, construction, health, agriculture, and general business banking.
- Drafting and negotiating facility agreements, security documentation, and other finance-related contracts.
- Conducting due diligence, including reviewing material documents, leases, agreements for lease, pre-sale contracts, and put and call option agreements.
- Managing transactions across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Engaging directly with clients, fostering strong professional relationships, and contributing to business development initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Admission as a legal practitioner in Australia with a current practising certificate.
- A minimum of two years' post-admission experience in banking and finance law (essential).
- Experience working on finance transactions, including drafting and negotiating facility and security documents.
- Strong commercial acumen and an understanding of the drivers behind lending transactions.
- Excellent drafting skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with clients and colleagues.
- A proactive attitude, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn and develop within the team.
- Experience using PEXA will be highly regarded.
