About our speaker Alana Maurushat
Dr. Alana Maurushat is a Professor of Cybersecurity and Behaviour at Western Sydney University, holding a joint position in the School of Computers, Data and Mathematical Sciences, and the School of Social Sciences. She is also the Associate Dean International in the SCDMS. Currently, Dr. Maurushat researches various cybersecurity topics, including cryptocurrency crimes, cyber incident response, payment diversion fraud, ransomware, and ethical hacking.

Recently appointed Director of the Western Centre for Cybersecurity Aid and Community Engagement (WCACE), she leads efforts to assist small businesses with cyber attacks. Her consultancy work spans cybersecurity, open data, big data, technology, and civil liberties for the Australian and Canadian governments, industry, and NGOs. She has contributed to media outlets such as 60 Minutes, the New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal, and is a prolific author of books and articles.
