people2people conducted a mid-year snap survey that indicated 41% of Australian and Kiwi employees felt that that had been asked to do more work with less resources.
people2people spoke to Jane Davis, Director at The Flourishing Institute who said “Burnout seems to be more prevalent and many employees are experiencing fatigue and exhaustion due to prolonged stress. Right now, it is very important for leaders to listen deeply to their team members and understand their personal situations. Focus on meeting their needs; particularly the psychological need to feel competent, the need for control, and social needs,” says Davis.
Firstly, prioritise your mental health & wellbeing, refill your own cup before you can start pouring others. It was WA Mental Health Week two weeks ago and there are plenty of things you can start doing today to put yourself in a better headspace.
Tony Robbins, entrepreneur and #1 NY Times best-selling author, shares his tips on how to do more with less time which include:
1. Find your purpose – find the reason for each task and how it fits with your goals
2. Say No – set boundaries and prioritise meeting your goals
3. Batch your time – multitasking doesn’t work, instead of stop, starting put similar tasks together
4. Plan – take time to plan out your long term, short term and mid-term goals
The World Health Organisation have officially recognised Burnout as an occupational condition, a syndrome occurring from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed. Now is the time to start managing your stress so that you can enjoy your personal and professional life.
