Meet Jippy

What's up dog?

I got Jippy at 6 months old. She was timid and had no manners. The poor thing didn't even know how to play with toys. Born and bred to work sheep and work sheep she did not do. Hence why she fell into my arms.
And then training begun. Every weekend we would find group training sessions to attend. Daily walks in different areas to increase her confidence.
As her confidence increased, I felt myself beginning to suffer from anxiety in my day to day life.
My anxiety stopped me from doing a lot of things. But Jippy helped me gain control of it by keeping me busy. She still needed walks and exposure to continue to build her confidence and it forced me to get out of the house and talk with strangers who crossed our paths.
One of my fondest memories with Jippy is when we hiked to the top of a waterfall.
We we walked along the track that lead us to the bottom of a beautiful waterfall. Whilst taking it all in I saw someone appear at the top pf the waterfall. I thought to myself 'how did they get there.' We started walking back when I saw what a faint track heading up the side of a hill towards the waterfall.
Anxiety struck until Jippy pushed past me and started her way up the track. We hiked for a good 40mins, passed the people we saw at the top. They were very encouraging and even said, cool dog, look at her go. I was so proud. We finally made it to the top maybe 20mins later. The view, the serenity, the peace, the beauty. Just me and my dog conquering the world together. We couldn't have done it without each other.
The dog who was once scared of bikes and prams now confidentially hiking waterfalls with me.
Everyday I wake up and i am beyond grateful for having her in my life. I may have given her a loving home but she has given me my best friend.
